Are you looking for a youth sports program that displays professionalism, communicates with parents, and puts the children first?
Any parent that’s been involved with youth sports knows how much effort, time, driving, energy, and money gets spilled into it. If you’re a parent with a child that plays sports or has shown interest in sports, keep reading.
Gova Sports is a new youth sports company that is taking the industry by storm and they just started a league in the Port Orange/Daytona Beach area. The creators are parents, just like you, that experienced both sides of the spectrum in terms of athletic leagues. They became frustrated when they experienced leagues that had little or non-existent communication and a lack of organization. In youth sports, there are several common frustrations that parents voice. I bet you’ve experienced these same issues. Things like, lack of communication or last-minute communication from the league, coaches that don’t receive training, unorganized systems, no signage at the field, hearing about cancellations at the last minute, no schedule or frequently changing schedule, high expenses, lack of safety, requiring all funds up front, forced volunteering, frequent and highly suggested fundraisers, no customer service, profanity used by coaches and staff, low energy, and the list goes on.
I bet you’ve also heard or witnessed the parents or coaches that get into arguments or even fist-fights at games. As a matter of fact, a simple search on the internet for “youth sports parents” will turn up a massive number of articles written about how terrible parents can be; either not caring at all or overly passionate. TV shows and even movies have been created which portray the extremes of youth sports and parents of young athletes. This is unfortunate because most parents are loving and caring people that simply wish the best for their children.

Gova Sports believes that the majority of parents with children that play sports are actually extraordinary: parents who are dedicated, parents that care, parents who have excellent intentions and just want the very best for their child. Like you, most parents register their children for sports because they know that the benefits are extremely valuable. The leadership skills, discipline, respect, and fitness that is gained through team sports is invaluable. Gova Sports created leagues with both parents and players as the top priority. Giving parents access to training and involving them in the game has proven to be an outstanding way to develop the player. They found that when parents are better equipped with information and tools, the players received more motivation and support and therefore enjoyed the game even more. All of this equated to children maintaining a desire to play.
Another frustration that the creators experienced with other leagues was the fact that their children and many other players didn’t get a fair amount of play time. At a young age (4-14), children need time on the field or court in order to develop the skills needed to get better. Gova Sports believes that every child should have the opportunity to play. There are some exceptions, but for the most part, if your child arrives for practice and participates in it, has determination and desire, and is respectful to coaches and teammates, then the child should be playing in the game. End of story. If your child doesn’t show up for practice, doesn’t listen to the coaches, or just doesn’t care, that’s another story. A coach shouldn’t put a player on the field who isn’t ready. That’s just common sense because of safety. Gova Sports arranged their leagues in such a way that the teams would have fewer players which means each player would have more access to play time.

It’s time to reclaim youth sports for the kids. Gova Sports redesigned local youth sports...and
they're not slowing down! This redesign starts with a format that puts the athlete and his/her family at the center of a more service-oriented model. They desire to change the culture of youth sports by meeting the needs of those they serve. The programs are built around teaching skills, good sportsmanship, leadership, and healthy competition. They deploy the most cutting-edge sports technology systems which streamline communication, scheduling, and roster building. This helps to ensure that coaches and parents can focus on enjoying the experience with the kids and making memories that truly last a lifetime.
Other key areas that make Gova Sports very different are:
Gova Sports athletes develop fundamental skills in sports AND leadership. A big emphasis is placed on “Gova Champion Values.” They teach the players the key character traits that build great leaders.
An exciting game-day experience. The creators of Gova Sports commonly share their memories as children playing youth sports. Many people have fond memories of playing baseball, soccer, or football as a kid. Gova Sports has raised the bar in this area. With a mission to create lasting memories, the games feature music, food, exciting field entrances, professional athlete appearances, prizes, and even marching bands. It’s an experience that young athletes will remember forever!
The “GoValue” program brings incredible value to the family. You just get more with Gova Sports. The players and parents get the absolute best benefits. better sports, better training, better value. No more last-minute messages, no more forced volunteering, no more screaming or negative coaches, and never any boring game days! Gova Sports gets loud, they have FUN, they're organized, and they train the coaches.
They give young athletes opportunities to demonstrate leadership and responsibility. Gova Sports coaches enable the players to make decisions. Roles as team captain will rotate and may sometimes be voted on by the team. When young athletes step up to lead a team, something truly magical happens. By far, this is one of the biggest impact areas for young people that play sports.
What about trophies? This is an area where Gova Sports really stands out. “A trophy is something a young athlete should look back on years later as a reminder of fond memories of hard work, teamwork, and a job well done.” Gova Sports winners receive extraordinary trophies and recognition. All other players/teams receive trophies too…but there is a BIG difference in the size and type. “We recognize that losing is part of life, but that doesn’t mean that we should be satisfied with it. Falling short of our goals should motivate and inspire us to work harder and smarter. This doesn’t just apply to sports, either; it applies to life.” Gova Sports also recognizes players with medals for above average leadership characteristics. “We develop athletes. We create leaders.”
FUN. Above all, Gova Sports truly wants the young athletes and parents to enjoy the game and have FUN. They achieve this by reinforcing the idea that positive motivation and inspiration through smiles and tactful feedback is most effective. They start by training coaches on the “W.H.E.E.L.” system (a unique training system that Gova Sports created just for youth coaches).
“We recognized a real need for a youth sports program that delivers sound training while maintaining the best part of sports, FUN. Gova Sports was developed out of pure passion and necessity. Organized Sports, when executed correctly, has the ability to change lives, build leaders, and improve physical fitness and overall health. We believe that long-lasting, precious memories are made through sports.”
